Warm welcome for 28 first graders at Chambtal Elementary School

In Weiding, the first day of school was an unforgettable experience for 28 new first graders. The Chambtal primary school celebrated this special day with a warm welcome, which was provided with music by the school family in grades two to four. The Weidinger school song played and created a happy atmosphere while the new students were introduced to the school community at Mayor-Holmeier-Platz. Principal Annette Steinhofer spoke openly about her own excitement and the significance of this unique event. “A first day of school is something very special that you only experience once in your life,” she emphasized in her welcome.

The celebrations also included an exciting story that the children followed with great attention. Steinhofer not only welcomed the new students, but also their parents, grandparents and guests of honor. There were also some new faces in the teaching staff who will support the lessons. Mayor Daniel Paul, who is also chairman of the school association, also addressed a few words to the first graders. He wished them to make lots of new friends and have a good time at primary school that they would remember fondly later.

Tradition and community

A special highlight was the mayor's school bag, which he had brought with him from his own school year in 1990. This tradition, which has been going on for ten years, delighted the children because the bag contained small sweets for each student. Pastor Franz Merl and community leader Silvia Fuchs led a small prayer in which they prayed for God's protection for the children. The priest blessed each child individually while the community leader accompanied a song with guitar and singing. A joint prayer by the parents for their children concluded this contemplative ceremony.

After the celebrations, the first graders went to their first lesson with teacher Barbara Brückl. Meanwhile, the dedicated members of the parents' council looked after the physical well-being of the parents with coffee and cake. The parents were able to take their ABC shooters home with them around lunchtime after they had taken a photo together with the colorful school bags. The headmistress also recalled the attractive midday care offer available to families.
