Early detection day in the Cham district: memory tests for everyone

On Friday, September 20, 2024, an important day for the early detection of dementia will take place in the Cham district office. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., interested citizens have the opportunity to have their memory tested. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Bavarian Ministry of Health that aims to improve the quality of life of people with dementia.

Dementia is often only recognized late or at an advanced stage, which represents a major challenge for those affected and their families. An early test can help to provide clarity and, if necessary, take further medical steps. It is important to emphasize that this memory test does not replace a full medical diagnosis, but only provides initial indications as to whether a more detailed examination is necessary.

Details about the test procedure

The memory tests are carried out by trained staff from the “Digital Dementia Register Bavaria” (DigiDem). A scientifically based short test is used that takes around ten minutes. The tests take place in a protected room to offer participants a comfortable and confidential atmosphere.

Anyone interested in this test should secure an appointment in advance. Appointments can be made by telephone at 09971/78-785 or -291. Alternatively, registrations can also be sent by email gesundheitsregionplus@lra.landkreis-cham.de be sent. It is recommended to register early as places are limited.
