Light measurement market is coming! Please note important road closures from February 6th!
The popular Candlemas market will take place in the city on Sunday, February 8, 2026, which will entail extensive traffic measures. From Friday, February 6, 2026, the first road closures will be made in and around the city center for safety reasons. This particularly applies to Frühlingstrasse from number 9 towards the city center, Hafnersgraben and Synagogenstrasse. Bergstrasse will also be closed from the junction with Bindergasse. These measures are designed to provide visitors with a safe environment while enjoying the market's many stalls and attractions.
In addition to the previously announced closures, traffic will be further restricted on Sunday itself from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this time, Rosenberger Straße between the city tower and town hall, Luitpoldplatz between the entrance to the castle garage and the town hall, as well as Neustadt from house number 24 in the direction of the town hall are excluded from traffic. Given the expected crowds, it is advisable to plan alternative routes and obey traffic signs. All drivers are requested to remove their vehicles from the no-parking zones in a timely manner to avoid fines.
No parking and parking options
The parking bans on Sunday also apply from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and affect various areas. The streets affected include Luitpoldplatz, Neutorgasse up to the junction with Lange Gasse and Rosenberger Straße from the junction with Lange Gasse/Spitalgasse to Luitpoldplatz. Due to the restrictions, it is also not possible to park in the area around the Lichtmesmarkt. This means that residents and market visitors should plan well in advance to avoid possible inconveniences.
The city administration reminds all road users to strictly observe the signs and instructions on site. Violations of traffic regulations are consistently punished. The measures are necessary to ensure safety during the light fair market and to enable smooth access for the numerous visitors.
