Advent magic in the BuchHaus: music, stories and a festive atmosphere!
On December 22, 2025, an atmospheric musical Advent reading took place in the BuchHaus in Hahnbach. As in previous years, this event attracted large audiences. The staff's thoughtful decoration added to the festive atmosphere, creating a welcoming environment where the smell of Christmas cookies and mulled wine filled the air. The evening was accompanied by literary stories from the Advent season, which were presented by Jürgen Huber.
The reading was accompanied by music by Gerhard “Säm” Kraus, who accompanied the guests on the electric piano. A special highlight was the singing of pre-Christmas songs together, which put those present in a contemplative mood. At the end of the event, Conny Kemmel, the head of the Hahnbach Library, warmly thanked everyone involved for their commitment.
Changes in the museum management in Regensburg
Parallel to the festive events in Hahnbach, there is also news from the Regensburg museum landscape. Doris Gerstl was appointed “scientific general curator” of the Regensburg museums in January 2023 and is now responsible for the depot holdings. However, her move to this position was overshadowed by differences between her and cultural officer Wolfgang Dersch. Dersch is looking for new management for the museums after Gerstl took over management of the museums in May 2017.
Gerstl's successor is expected to be decided in the course of 2023, with the vacancy being advertised publicly. Until a new manager is found, her deputy, Dr. Andreas Boos, the interim manager. These personnel changes follow tensions that have arisen between the two since Dersch took office in 2019. In addition, Dr. Alexandra Brack was hired to redesign the Historical Museum, which indicates a strategic realignment of the cultural institutions.
