From September 2, 2024, the driving license office of the Aichach-Friedberg district office will change its processes. In the future, a personal visit will only be possible with a prior appointment.
Citizens can conveniently book their appointments online via the district office website. For those who would like to drop by spontaneously, there is the option to reserve an appointment using a tablet in front of the driving license office, provided there are still places available. In addition, additional appointments are available daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for short-term concerns.
Digital offers and application processes
Another important point is the expanded online offering. For example, citizens can apply for the mandatory exchange of their driving license or an international driving license completely digitally. You can now also pick up your new driving license without visiting the district office in person. In the future, the authority plans to further expand the digital application process in order to improve the service.
We also recommend that you use direct shipping when applying for a new driving license. This applies to various types of applications, such as the mandatory exchange of an old paper driving license or the initial granting of accompanied driving in class B. Anyone who notes this on the application form will have their new driving license delivered directly to their home for a small surcharge, which eliminates the need for an appointment at the district office.
An important note about the mandatory exchange of a driving license: If the old paper driving license is to be limited to four months, this is only possible if you also want the new driving license to be sent directly. If you pick it up on site, the old driver's license should not be subject to a time limit.
