Meringer clubs united: Big meeting with new plans for the future!

On December 1, 2025, almost 40 representatives of the Meringer clubs met in the water house. At the invitation of Mayor Florian A. Mayer and Lothar Haupt, chairman of the Upper Meringer Club (OMC), an exchange on important topics was on the agenda. The discussion revolved around scheduling appointments, mutual support and professional exchange between the clubs.

A highlight of the meeting was the announcement of significant anniversaries in the region. The fruit and horticultural association will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2026. The CSU local association also has reason to celebrate as it turns 80, while the Auerhahn Schützen in Sankt Afra can look back on 70 years of club history.

Club activities and future planning

A central concern of the club regulars' table was to strengthen cooperation between the clubs. Lothar Haupt reported that he will enter all the appointments collected on the website of the market town of Mering. This initiative is intended to ensure that overlaps in dates become rare in the coming year. In the future, this exchange between the clubs will take place once a year.

An information evening on food hygiene for clubs took place last year. Mayor Mayer and Lothar Haupt explained the various options available on the municipal website, in particular the Augsburger Allgemeine's upload portal for press reports.

Another topic was the citizens' festival at Badanger planned for 2026, which has now been postponed until at least 2027. This festival will take place as an open-air concert. There was also a suggestion that many clubs could join forces and organize a joint summer festival in order to increase the club's assets through local street food offerings.

Supporting local trade

Mayor Mayer encouraged the clubs to actively participate in other clubs' events. With the slogan “Don’t leave, buy locally,” Mering Aktuell wants to promote local trade. In collaboration with cultural officer Klaus-Dieter Ruf and Jochen Hartmann from the fruit and horticultural association, the planning for the community festival will be pushed forward.

Additional information about the activities and dates of the Meringer clubs can also be found on the website of the German Alpine Club, which can be accessed at dav-mering.de.
