On February 23, 2026, Juliana Huber celebrated an extraordinary milestone at the Andechser Inn: her 100th birthday. This special celebration was attended by friends, former neighbors and long-time companions who wanted to toast an eventful life with her. Mayor Florian A. Mayer congratulated the woman celebrating her anniversary on behalf of the community and, upon request, presented her with a large fruit basket to honor this special day.
Juliana Huber has been living in the St. Agnes senior center for about a year. Before moving, she lived independently in her house in Meringen until her 99th birthday. Her new home has proven to be very pleasant, she emphasizes. “I feel very comfortable here,” said Huber. This new phase of her life brings an important change for her, but her courage and joy remain unbroken, despite personal blows of fate that she had to accept over the course of her life.
Life and commitment
Huber is best known for her dedicated work in the secretariat of the Meringer secondary school. Under Gerhard Geyer's leadership, she was responsible for the school's administrative affairs for many years. She was also actively involved in the local branch of the Bavarian Red Cross, where she even worked as an on-call manager for a year. In Mayor Florian Mayer's speech it becomes clear that her tireless commitment and joy for life have not faded even after all these years.
To celebrate her 100th birthday, Mayor Mayer brought an additional gift, which he presented on behalf of BRK district manager Robert Erdin. This kind gesture shows the appreciation that Huber receives from both the community and those around her.
