Construction work at the weekend: route closures between Mammendorf and Mering!
On November 8, 2025, DB InfraGo AG will carry out construction work on the tracks between Mammendorf station and Mering station. These necessary measures are required quarterly to ensure operational safety on the affected route sections. The construction work is scheduled to take place overnight from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., which is likely to pose some challenges for travelers and commuters as they face disruption to train services. The municipality of Merching reports this in a current announcement ( gemeinde-merching.de ).
In order to obtain a comprehensive overview of current and upcoming construction sites in the rail network, DB InfraGo AG offers interactive maps using the “route.info” application. These maps provide information about all major infrastructure restrictions, including construction sites and incident reports, in a 12-week preview. The application allows users to access customized information according to their travel needs. In addition, LiveMaps users can receive notifications about relevant construction and incident reports, which significantly simplifies the process of obtaining information ( dbinfrago.com ).
Long-term infrastructure investments
In the context of the ongoing construction work and the necessary maintenance measures, the federal government is showing increased commitment to the infrastructure. Investments totaling 166 billion euros are planned by 2029, with around 107 billion euros expected to flow into rail. This package exceeds the previous government's planned plans by 29 billion euros, but remains 18 billion euros below Deutsche Bahn's reported needs. The focus of these investments is on the renovation of dilapidated railway lines and the modernization of stations, which are to be highlighted through new standards for accessibility, uniform design and improved train information ( tagesschau.de ).
Deutsche Bahn has already begun the general renovation of over 40 heavily used routes, which is expected to be completed by the mid-2030s. However, travelers must be prepared for infrastructural restrictions due to the necessary construction work. In the long term, however, these investments should lead to an improvement in the punctuality and reliability of rail transport.
