On November 10, 2025, in the festive surroundings of the Rococo Hall of the Swabian Government in Augsburg, important personalities were honored for their achievements in local self-government. Among them, local councilor Georg Dollinger from Adelzhausen received the Municipal Medal of Merit in Bronze for over 40 years of dedicated service to the community.
Dollinger is widely known for his dedication, expertise and craftsmanship. He is considered a trustworthy contact for many citizens who deal with municipal issues. His personal commitment is reflected, among other things, in the walkway he and his brother built along the Ecknach and his involvement in the construction of the Kneipp facility with a village square.
Honored by the Minister of State
The medal was awarded by State Minister Joachim Herrmann. In addition to Dollinger, several other personalities were honored at the award ceremony, which began at 3 p.m. These include Franz Abele, former first mayor of the municipality of Legau, and Ursula Bader, member of the Krumbach city council, as well as about a dozen other people who have made outstanding contributions to their communities. The medal has been awarded by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior since 1966 for exceptional achievements in local honorary positions and is a special recognition for many years of service.
The Municipal Merit Medal is awarded in different levels - gold, silver and bronze - and is not intended to be worn in public. At the award ceremony, the recipient also receives a certificate.
