The 85th picture book cinema will take place in the Wörth city library on December 2nd, 2025. This popular event starts at 5:00 p.m. and offers children and their parents a special experience. The stories “Merry Winter Night” by Lorenz Pauli and “The Christmas Owl” by Britta Sabbag will be shown. Participation requires prior registration, which can be done by phone at 09482/9597022 or by email at stadtbuecherei-woerth@t-online.de. The city library is located on Schulstr. 1 in 93086 Wörth.
The picture book cinema is not just a reading, but combines reading aloud with fascinating visual elements that stimulate the imagination. On October 26th, the little visitors were able to experience exciting stories in which the picture book narrator Andrea took the children into the diverse world of literature. This event was supported by KiW and featured entertaining puppet theater that was appealing to both children and adults.
Diverse offers for young readers
The concept of the picture book cinema has proven itself in many libraries. A similar event at the Prien Library takes place three times a month, with children divided into age-appropriate groups. The children aged three to ten get to know popular children's books and, after reading them, can take part in suitable craft activities. Registration is also required for the Prien events.
The cooperation between different institutions, as is the case in Wörth and Prien, helps to ensure that reading promotion is made playful. The use of visual and haptic elements makes reading more tangible and interesting for children. Such creative initiatives promote the joy of reading from a young age, which has long-term positive effects on the development of literary interest.
Especially in the run-up to Christmas, the picture book cinema is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen family bonds and experience stories together that stimulate imagination and creativity.
