Open day: Modern waste management center Steinmühle is celebrating
On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the Steinmühle Waste Management Center (AWZ) will open its doors to anyone interested from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event marks the successful completion of extensive modernization work that has made the EWZ one of the most advanced landfills in Bavaria.
The day opens with a warm welcome from District Administrator Roland Grillmeier at 10:00 a.m. Afterwards, the mayors of the surrounding communities have the opportunity to say a few words to the guests and underline the importance of the EEZ for the region.
Treats and entertainment for everyone
The physical well-being of the visitors is well taken care of. Various drinks are available from 10:00 a.m., followed by a lunch special with delicious steak and bratwurst rolls from 11:00 a.m. In the afternoon, guests can relax with a cup of coffee and a selection of cakes. Donations are also collected that will benefit the Mitterteicher Tafel e.V. to help people in need in the region.
The little guests don't miss out either: an exciting guessing game, a mini soccer field and crayons ensure lots of fun and creativity. The wheel of fortune run by the Schwandorf waste recycling association (ZMS) promises additional entertainment and great prizes.
Insights into modern waste management
A special highlight of the day is the new image film about the EEZ, which informs visitors about the latest developments and the history of the center. In the exhibition room, guests can admire an updated model of the landfill as well as numerous images and information about waste management.
Another highlight are the tours on the grounds with the Großbüchelberg tourist train, which are offered from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the approximately 30-minute journeys, visitors have the opportunity to get to know various EEZ facilities, such as the landfill, the bulky waste acceptance and the ZMS waste transfer area. The Steinmühle Waste Management Center is looking forward to numerous visitors and an informative and entertaining day.
