Discover Tirschenreuth: Open Monument Day on September 8th
On September 8th, Tirschenreuth will be a venue for those interested in history and culture, as the Open Monument Day is just around the corner. Under the motto “Landmark – Witnesses to History”, visitors have the opportunity to experience three exciting and free events. These events offer a unique insight into the history of the city and its important buildings.
The first stop is the baroque Fischhof, which is considered Tirschenreuth's most famous landmark and now houses the district court. Three special tours are offered here, starting at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Participants can visit the Fischhof Bridge, the boardroom and a courtroom. A special highlight is the view of the old town from the attic, which offers visitors a new perspective on the city. The rococo chapel is also visited during the tour. The local court takes care of your physical well-being and offers cakes and drinks in the vaulted room from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Guided tours in the historic town hall hall
Another highlight of the day is the tour of the historic town hall hall, which is led by the certified tour guide Cornelia Stahl. These tours take place at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the renovated Renaissance building, built in 1582/83, and learn more about its history. The meeting point for this tour is in front of the town hall at Maximilianplatz 35.
Another item on the program is the Alte Wagnerei, which was recently restored. Here, former master carpenter Horst Schafferhans gives demonstrations from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. that provide an insight into the traditional craft of wheelwrighting. The Alte Wagnerei is located in the Völkl-Stodl, directly opposite the Hotel Seenario at Regensburger Straße 6c.
The city of Tirschenreuth warmly invites everyone interested to take part in this special day and explore the historical sites. It's an excellent opportunity to learn more about local history and experience the city's impressive monuments.
