Pure party mood: Kirwa-Zug inspires Erbendorf with music and tradition
The “Andorfer Kirwa” in Erbendorf was a real spectacle that transformed the city into a happy celebration last Sunday. With bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures, people flocked to the streets to experience the traditional Kirwa procession. At 2 p.m. the colorful procession set off, rolling through Bräugasse and passing the town hall, where Mayor Johannes Reger warmly welcomed the participants.
The streets were lined with thousands of spectators who enthusiastically cheered on the floats and groups as they passed by. The music boomed through the air and the cries of “Wer hout Kirwa-mia hom Kirwa” echoed. The procession was led by an impressive, 60-year-old Magirus fire engine from the fire department, which was driven by Alexander Donenko, while Pastor Martin Besold was a passenger. The floats were decorated with creative sayings from the young people, which provided additional entertainment.
Festive atmosphere in the Kirwa tent
After arriving at the smoking club's marquee, the celebration entered a new round. The mood was exuberant and the participants enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Mayor Reger took the opportunity to thank everyone involved, especially Corina Rumpler from the city administration, who took over the organization of the Kirwa parade. Their efforts contributed significantly to the success of the event and ensured that everything ran smoothly.
The Kirwa is not only a traditional festival, but also an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate together. The joy and cohesion that was noticeable during the procession and in the festival tent shows how important such events are for the city of Erbendorf. The participants could look forward to a varied program that offered something for everyone and kept the tradition alive.
