20 years of friendship: Schwarzach visits partner community Pocinovice
The partnership between the community of Schwarzach and the Czech community of Pocinovice is celebrating a remarkable anniversary this year. The two communities have maintained a close connection for two decades, which was honored with a special day trip on September 15, 2024. Despite the unpleasant weather, over 40 participants came to take part in the main pilgrimage at Brünnl Dobra Voda. The rainy conditions did not dampen the good spirits of the travelers and they received a warm welcome in Pocinovice.
The day began with a festive service, which took place in St. Anna's Church instead of outdoors due to the poor weather forecast. After the service we went to Uborsko for lunch, where the guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas with Pastor Adamec, who speaks fluent German. This promoted personal contact and understanding between the participants and the hosts.
Insights into history and culture
In the afternoon, an exciting tour of the newly restored Tynec Castle was on the agenda. The participants were enthusiastic about the interesting information that the tour guide provided about the history of the castle and the region. After the tour of the municipal administration, where the meeting room was also shown, there was a small refreshment with traditional Bohemian delicacies, including the popular Kolatschen.
The mayor of Pocinovice, Marie Homolková, said goodbye to the guests in the municipal hall and emphasized the importance of the 20th anniversary of the partnership. Mayor Franz Grabinger von Schwarzach thanked everyone for their warm hospitality on behalf of all participants and presented a gift. At the end of the event, Mayor Homolková invited the people of Schwarzach to the celebrations on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the first documented mention of Pocinovice, which will take place on June 21, 2025.
