Freedom and Me”: New exhibition opens in Schwandorf City Library

An exciting new exhibition entitled “Freedom and Me” opened its doors in the Schwandorf City Library on October 1st. Mayor Andreas Feller was on site to celebrate the opening and to move through the various stations of the exhibition himself. Not only does the event capture the attention of adults, but it also provides a valuable opportunity for students to engage with important issues.

The exhibition is a creative project that clearly presents the civil liberties as enshrined in the Basic Law. Library director Christin Präßler explained that the green flags in the exhibition symbolize the various freedoms and illustrate their importance in everyday life. “Visitors can actively participate and comment on the topics represented by the blue flags,” added André Meidenbauer, managing director of vhs Schwandorf. This interactive component is intended to encourage visitors to engage with the exhibition's content and form their own opinions.

Invitation to discovery

The exhibition “Freedom and Me” is accessible during regular opening hours of the city library and is aimed particularly at school classes. As part of the newly introduced constitutional quarter hour, students can explore the topics of the Basic Law and civil liberties in a clear way. Schools have the opportunity to make appointments for group visits online, by telephone or directly at the city library. This initiative provides an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of freedom and the rights associated with it.

The exhibition is not only an informative but also an inspiring experience that encourages you to think about your own role in society. Those responsible hope that many visitors will take the opportunity to engage with the topics and actively participate in the discussion about freedom and rights.
