Ponholz Fire Department celebrates sponsorship with Pirkensee – a celebration of camaraderie
The Ponholz fire department is planning a big party to celebrate its 150th anniversary. From July 4th to 7th, 2025, the motto will be “Party hard – instead of a mission trip”. In order to properly honor this special occasion, the fire department comrades have requested sponsorship from the neighboring Pirkensee fire department. These two militaries have developed a close friendship and strong camaraderie over the years.
Last weekend, the members of the Ponholz fire department, accompanied by Mayor Rudolf Seid and mother Ramona Plank, marched to the equipment house in Pirkensee. The Pirkensee firefighters were already waiting for them there. In a solemn ceremony, the Ponholz representatives knelt on logs and presented their request for sponsorship. Festival director Johannes Götzer, fire brigade chairwoman Verena Fuhrmann and commander Florian Kiener were the main actors in this request.
Challenges and commitment
In order to receive the sponsorship, the Ponholz firefighters had to complete various tasks. One of these challenges was coupling suction hoses under difficult conditions, which required skill and teamwork. After successfully completing all tasks, Manfred Haslbeck, the chairman of the Pirkensee fire department, agreed to take over the sponsorship. This was symbolically sealed by coupling fire hoses together.
After the official ceremony, the festival guests moved together with the Bacherl musicians to the Heldsaal, where a cozy dinner awaited them. The evening offered an excellent opportunity to celebrate the newly concluded sponsorship and to deepen the long-standing friendship between the two fire departments.
