Wenzenbach's first youth parliament: A milestone for youth participation

The first election of the Wenzenbach youth parliament took place at the end of October. A small group of committed young people worked with youth carers for over a yearIsabella Bachtogether to build the youth parliament and the associated statutes. Up to 11 young people between the ages of 12 and 20 could be elected. In this election there were 8 candidates between the ages of 12 and 19. All young people running could become part of the youth parliament as long as they received at least one vote.

Voter turnout and results

On Saturday, October 26th, the polling station in the town hall meeting room opened from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. All children and young people in the community between the ages of 10 and 21 were eligible to vote. During this period, you could cast up to 5 votes, with a maximum of 2 votes being allowed for one candidate. A total of 82 children and young people voted, which corresponds to a turnout of around 8.7 percent. These 82 young people awarded 373 votes to the candidates. All young people who were elected are part of the Wenzenbach Youth Parliament for a term of 2 years.

Congratulations!
