39th tennis tournament for local politicians: Herbert Schötz wins in Köfering

Regensburg (RL). Last weekend the 39th tennis tournament for local politicians took place in the Regensburg district, and the atmosphere was, as always, characterized by a sporting spirit and friendly exchange. The event, which took place at the tennis facility in Köfering, attracted numerous active and former politicians who competed in a friendly competition.

The organization of the tournament was once again in the hands of Harald Bauer, a former district councilor who has been responsible for its implementation for many years. “It’s not just about sporting competition, but also about cultivating friendships and exchanging ideas with each other,” explained Bauer in his opening speech. This philosophy runs like a common thread through the history of the tournament, which was founded 39 years ago.

Winner of the tournament

In an exciting final, Herbert Schötz from Wörth a.d.Donau prevailed and secured the coveted winner's trophy. Hermann Gerl from Sünching and Karl Mooser from Wenzenbach took second and third place. The participants not only showed sporting ability, but also fairness and team spirit, which was appreciated by the spectators and organizers alike.

At the award ceremony, deputy district administrator Willi Hogger warmly thanked Harald Bauer for his tireless commitment and praised the volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly. “Your fair encounters are the heart of this tournament,” said Hogger, underlining the importance of sporting cooperation.

The tennis tournament was launched almost four decades ago by District Administrator Rupert Schmid to create a platform for exchange between local politicians, regardless of political affiliations. This tradition is still upheld today and ensures that the tournament remains not only a sporting event, but also an important social gathering.
