Sünching Municipal Council: Important construction projects and broadband expansion on November 18th!
On November 18, 2025, a meeting of the Sünching municipal council will take place in the meeting room of the Sünching administrative community. This meeting will offer citizens the opportunity to find out about current topics and decisions.
The agenda contains several important points. In the public part, the development and green space plan for the “Schulstrasse residential complex” is dealt with first, followed by the plan for the “ Fabrikstrasse residential complex”. The result of early public and authorities participation is presented and approved here. Another core topic is the broadband expansion by Laber-Naab Infrastructure GmbH (LNI). The plan is presented and a contract for laying telecommunications lines is discussed.
Important decisions in focus
In addition, the renovation of the SV Sünching sports facilities - as part of the federal program for the renovation of municipal sports facilities - and the 2025 sewer renovation program are on the agenda. The tender for closed renovations is also discussed. Furthermore, the bundle tender for municipal electricity procurement and municipal heat planning are planned. A report from the mayor rounds off the public part of the meeting before it continues into the non-public meeting.
The announcement was signed on November 13, 2025 by Robert Spindler, the first mayor of Sünching. The opportunity to participate and view the agenda gives citizens active access to local decision-making.
Citizen participation and transparency
In this context, the city of Ostfildern has set up its own geo-information system (OGIS), which offers citizens interactive access to city geodata. The platform enables residents to quickly find information on properties, development plans and municipal heat planning. Open and transparent communication is of great importance in order to actively involve citizens in urban development. With OGIS, the topics of planning and mobility should also be addressed so that citizens are well informed.
The discussion about structured citizen participation is becoming increasingly important. Many cities, including Ostfildern, are striving for an integrated participation strategy. The development of a municipal culture of participation is seen as essential to increasing citizen satisfaction. The concept of “structured participation” aims to improve communication and transparency through guideline processes. This is expected to promote collaboration between offices and create better internal coordination.
The research project of the German Institute for Standardization (Difu) examines the design and experiences with structured participation in several cities. So far, however, it has been found that urban society is only being reached inadequately. It is therefore crucial to supplement the structured participation processes with low-threshold communication formats in order to reach a broader audience and actively involve citizens in shaping their living environment.
In view of the upcoming local council meeting in Sünching and the various planned initiatives, it is clear that local politics is striving to promote citizen participation and transparency in order to ensure the long-term positive development of the community.
