Sustainable heat supply: Sinzing local council sets the course for the future!

On October 29, 2025, an important municipal council meeting took place in the Sinzing municipality's meeting room, which lasted from 7:00 p.m. to 9:25 p.m. A central topic was future municipal heat planning, which was presented by engineering firm Luxgreen Climadesign GmbH. The aim is to ensure a sustainable, affordable and future-proof heat supply.

The importance of municipal heat planning is underlined by current developments. According to the BBSR, heat supply in Germany accounts for over 50% of national energy consumption and contributes significantly to CO₂ emissions. In order to overcome this challenge, the federal government has passed the Heat Planning Act, which has required all federal states to create heat plans since January 1, 2024. Ultimately, the aim is to make the heat supply climate-neutral by 2045, with a goal of 65% fewer CO₂ emissions by 2030.

Public participation and planned surveys

Community leaders are planning a public event in spring 2026 to inform citizens about the planning status and options for action. An online citizen survey is also being planned in order to actively involve citizens in the planning process.

Municipal heating planning is not only a step towards reducing emissions in the building sector, but also an indispensable part of the heating transition in Germany. According to dena, 42% of municipalities in Germany are actively involved in heat planning, but only 2% already have completed heat plans.

Other topics at the local council meeting

An application for a grant for an artificial turf pitch in Eilsbrunn from the clubs Sportclub Sinzing e.V. and Fußballklub Viehhausen e.V. was approved. The funding amounts to 30% of the costs, up to a maximum of €270,000. The application for funding from the federal program “Renovation of municipal sports facilities” was also approved, which includes a municipal subsidy of 10% (maximum €90,000) for the artificial turf pitch.

With regard to urban development funding, a statement of needs for the redesign of the ferry route and the old church square was approved for the 2026 program year. However, these measures depend on the availability of sufficient budget resources.

Another point was the operating cost statement for the St. Michael Sinzing Catholic Kindergarten for 2024, which shows an annual deficit of €66,053.72. The necessary budget resources are made available for this.

In addition, it was discovered that the pedestrian and cycle path bridge was damaged due to the renovation of the railway bridge. The Bögl company from Neumarkt was entrusted with repairing this damage for €88,226.60 gross, with a declaration of cost assumption from Deutsche Bahn. Finally, a contract for monitoring the corrosion protection work was awarded to the Koller offices in Nuremberg.

The next council meeting will further highlight progress on these important projects.
