Anna Maußhammer: Sinzing's oldest citizen celebrates her 102nd birthday
A very special occasion was celebrated in Sinzing: Anna Maußhammer, the oldest citizen in the community, celebrated her 102nd birthday. Mayor Marin Brix didn't miss the opportunity to personally convey his best wishes to the woman celebrating her birthday and congratulate her on this impressive year of her life.
Anna Maußhammer, born Anna Pöppl, grew up in Painten near Kelheim. In 1947 she married Anton Maußhammer, with whom she lived until his death in 2005. The family, consisting of daughter Irene and son Anton, moved to Sinzing in 1956, where they built their own home three years later. Soon after, daughter Ingrid expanded the family.
A life full of passion
For Anna Maußhammer, the garden was always an important part of her life. She loved cooking for her family and always had a supply of homemade jam and preserved fruit. It was often found in the forest, especially during the blackberry season. Another passion was knitting socks, an activity she enjoyed for many years until it finally became too difficult for her.
Today the woman celebrating her birthday lives in the house of her daughter Irene and her son Anton, who lovingly look after her. Anna Maußhammer is also a founding member of the Sinzing Catholic Women's Association, which was founded in 1954. Irene Brix, the chairwoman of the women's association, warmly congratulated her and acknowledged her contribution to founding the local group. The women's association is celebrating its 70th anniversary on September 28th, and Anna has always enjoyed taking part in the events, especially the convivial coffee parties in the parish hall.
In addition to her role in the women's association, Ms. Maußhammer was also active in the local history and traditional costume association “Stoaros'n” Sinzing and in the workers' welfare organization. She enjoyed taking part in the day trips organized by these clubs. Today she prefers to spend her time in front of the television and enjoys visits from her family, especially her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
