Schierling is planning a sustainable daycare center with gold certification
A new chapter in early childhood care is opening in Schierling. A modern daycare center is being built on Fruehaufstrasse, right next to Adolph-Kolping-Strasse, which will not only be functional but also sustainable. The Schierling market has set itself the goal of building the new facility with three groups for kindergarten children and two groups for the little ones. Particular attention is paid to environmentally friendly construction methods in order to meet sustainability requirements.
A significant step in this project is the targeted funding from the federal government, which can amount to up to 634,000 euros. This financial support is part of the initiative that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Germany by 65 percent by 2030 compared to 1990. Achieving this goal requires comprehensive action in various areas, including construction. The Schierling market, under the leadership of climate protection manager Franz Hien, is actively committed to acting as a role model for sustainable building.
Sustainability in focus
The planned “House for Children” is intended to be one of the first projects in the region that aims to achieve the “Sustainable Building Quality Seal (QNG)”. This seal, developed by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, serves as proof of compliance with strict construction quality requirements. It promotes a uniform understanding of sustainability and creates a legally secure basis for allocating funding.
In order to receive the QNG, the daycare center must first achieve a DGNB certificate in silver, gold or platinum. The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) has developed an evaluation system that takes into account the ecological, economic and socio-cultural quality of buildings. These three aspects are crucial to assess the impact of a building on the environment, economy and user needs.
The Baierl engineering office from Riedenburg was commissioned with energy consulting and certification. In close collaboration with the Raith architectural firm and the municipal administration, every step of the planning is carefully documented in order to meet the requirements of the DGNB. “We are building for the future, so it is important to record all processes precisely,” emphasizes qualified engineer Florian Baierl.
The DGNB certification covers the entire planning and construction process. The sustainability requirements are also carefully considered when selecting building materials and services. “Most manufacturers are already familiar with these requirements,” explains Baierl. This means that everyone involved is challenged more intensively to meet the high standards, which is also reflected in a detailed “requirements specification”.
Life cycle assessment plays a central role in this process. It helps to assess the environmental impact of the building over its entire life cycle. All phases from raw material extraction to disposal are considered. In this way, emissions and resource consumption can be recorded precisely, which is of great importance for planning and construction.
In order to receive the QNG, the requirements of the QNG-Plus must be met. The Baierl engineering office supports the Schierling market throughout the entire process, from planning to submitting the certification documents. The combination of financial support and a clear focus on sustainability could make Schierling a pioneer in green building.
The new daycare center in Schierling is not only a place for early childhood education, but also an example of responsible building in today's world. With the aim of obtaining both the DGNB gold certificate and the QNG, the Schierling market is setting standards for future construction projects.
