Regensburg welcomes 74 new trainees: a step into the future
On September 2nd and 3rd, 2024, a significant event took place in Regensburg, where 74 new trainees were accepted into the city administration. Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer, Thomas Fischer, head of the Office for Organization and Personnel Development, and Luise Weiß, chairwoman of the general staff council, warmly welcomed the young talents. These new recruits come from 14 different training occupations and two dual study programs, which underlines the diversity of the training offerings.
The city of Regensburg has been training its own young talent for years in order to sustainably promote personnel development. Over half of the new trainees are trained in the areas of administration and business. These include twelve administrative assistants, five civil servants at the second qualification level and 14 office management clerks. The practice-integrated training of 18 educators also shows the city's commitment to training.
Diverse training occupations
In addition to the professions mentioned, the city also trains specialists for media and information services, event managers and IT system electronics technicians. The list of apprenticeships is long and includes, among others, carpenters, draftsmen, industrial mechanics and gardeners. This wide range of training positions shows that the city of Regensburg is not only looking for young talent in administration, but also in technical and creative professions.
To make it easier for new trainees to get started, a two-day introductory seminar was organized. Here the participants received valuable information about the city of Regensburg as an employer. Through interactive formats, the young professionals had the opportunity to exchange ideas with important contacts in the city administration and get to know each other better. A tour of the community center and a geocaching tour enabled the trainees to explore the city and important administrative locations such as the city council meeting room.
Classes at the Bavarian Administrative School began for civil servants with the second qualification level on September 3, 2024. The other trainees will take part in seminars in the coming days that cover topics such as business etiquette, active learning, bullying prevention and health promotion in everyday working life. These training courses are designed to optimally prepare new employees for their future tasks.
