Take part now: ADFC bicycle climate test 2024 starts in your city!
The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) started the ADFC bicycle climate test survey on September 1, 2024. This online survey is aimed at all cyclists and is available at www.fkt.adfc.de accessible. The survey provides an opportunity to assess various aspects of cycling, including feelings of safety, width of cycle paths and accessibility of destinations by bike. A central theme this year is coexistence in traffic, which means that respondents can also rate interactions with other road users.
The survey runs until November 30, 2024 and includes a total of 27 questions that take approximately ten minutes to answer. Participants also have the opportunity to sign up for a newsletter to be informed about the results of the survey. The most bicycle-friendly cities and communities will be honored at the Federal Ministry of Transport in Berlin in spring 2025.
Important topics of the survey
Particular attention is paid to coexistence in traffic. This examines how cyclists perceive the behavior of other road users. The focus is on questions about considerate driving and maintaining overtaking distances. Every vote cast is important to show that citizens demand and value improvements to cycling infrastructure.
A well-developed cycle path network is not only environmentally friendly, but also contributes to everyone's quality of life and road safety. The ADFC carries out this test every two years, and this year is the eleventh edition. The implementation is supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, which provides funds from the National Cycling Plan.
Around 245,000 people took part in the last bicycle climate test in 2022, which led to a comprehensive ranking of the most bicycle-friendly cities and communities in Germany.
