Major fire brigade exercise: Regensburger Straße closed from 4 p.m.!

On October 16, 2025, a large-scale fire drill will take place in Lappersdorf, which will have a significant impact on traffic. From 4:00 p.m., Regensburger Straße between Kapellenweg/Mittelweg and Kirchberg will be closed to vehicle traffic. The reason for this measure is to train the emergency services of the local fire departments. Spectators are welcome to watch the exercise, giving residents the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at firefighting work.

The expected reopening of the closed road is scheduled for 10 p.m. The responsible administration asks residents and road users to understand the inconvenience caused by the measures. The closures are of great importance for public safety and the improvement of road infrastructure.

Diversions and disruptions

The closure is also expected to have an impact on public transport. Regional transport lines 13 and 142 will be rerouted in both directions via R18. This means that some stops cannot be served: Lappersdorf Hornauer, Kapelle, Kirchberg and Oppersdorfer Str. Steig 3. Replacement stops will be set up in Neukareth and at Oppersdorfer Str. Steig 5 in the direction of Hainsacker and Steig 1 in the direction of Regensburg.

Additional digital solutions keep the population up to date on current construction sites and road closures. A digital construction site tool on the platform safe-roads.org provides a user-friendly way to search and report construction sites. It ensures transparency about all construction sites in the area and contains an interactive map. This is particularly important to minimize potential dangers to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Road safety program

The importance of safety measures is also underlined by the federal government's road safety program. According to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMV), 2,770 people were killed in road traffic in Germany in 2024. The program aims to reduce traffic fatalities by 40 percent by 2030, with a clear goal of “Vision Zero”, i.e. zero deaths on the roads.

Initiatives such as the “Pact for Road Safety” and the further development of road infrastructure are part of these efforts. In addition to improving traffic regulations, the BMV is promoting the installation of modern driver assistance systems in vehicles. Such measures are crucial to sustainably increase road safety and make traffic in the region safer.

It is therefore particularly important for the citizens of Lappersdorf to use alternative routes during the planned fire drill and to find out about the traffic situation. The exercise itself is not only a training measure, but also an example of proactive security policy in the region.
