Complete closure of state road 2660: renovation of the bridge in Deuerling

State road 2660, which connects Hemau with Regensburg, will be closed to traffic again from September 13th to 17th, 2024. This full closure is part of the ongoing repair work on the railway bridge in Deuerling. According to a statement from the State Building Authority, this measure is necessary in order to be able to carry out work safely in the track area under the bridge.

The closure will be put in place on Friday and is expected to last until Tuesday morning. The road will then be reopened to traffic. After this full closure, a half-way traffic route with traffic lights will be set up to complete the remaining work on the southern half of the bridge.

Details about the construction work

Repair work on the bridge on State Road 2660 began in April of this year. In the first phase, the southern half of the bridge superstructure was repaired. During the upcoming closure of the railway tracks, the working scaffolding will be dismantled and some work will be carried out in the track area. The remaining work on the southern half of the bridge should be completed by the end of November, depending on the weather conditions.

Work on the northern half of the bridge is planned for 2026. The reason for this is the replacement of a main beam that needs to be replaced due to specific damage. This replacement requires significant logistical effort, which will lead to longer railway track closure times.

Deutsche Bahn is planning comprehensive renovation work on the railway line in question for 2026. The replacement of the carrier will take place as part of these already necessary restrictions on rail traffic in order to avoid additional closures and minimize the impact on rail traffic.

The affected girder shows progressive corrosion, which, although not currently causing static restrictions, could affect the load-bearing capacity of the bridge in the long term. It is therefore necessary to replace the component.

The Regensburg State Building Authority asks all road users to understand the necessary restrictions. Drivers who are familiar with the area are advised to avoid the affected area as far as possible. Everyone involved is doing everything they can to complete the work quickly.
