ADFC bicycle climate test 2024: Your opinion counts for better cycle paths!

The ADFC bicycle climate test 2024 started on September 1st and runs until November 30th. The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) calls on all cyclists to share their experiences and opinions on the cycling situation in their city or community. The survey is available online at www.fkt.adfc.de and includes 27 questions that can be answered in about ten minutes.

This year the focus is on togetherness in traffic. The survey asks, among other things, cyclists' feelings of safety, the width of cycle paths and the accessibility of destinations by bike. The data collected is intended to help municipalities improve conditions for cyclists and further expand the infrastructure.

Important aspects of the survey

In addition to the basic questions, there are specific questions that concern the behavior of other road users. This determines whether cyclists perceive the behavior of drivers and pedestrians as considerate and whether the necessary distance is maintained when overtaking. This information is crucial to promote better coexistence on the road.

Participating in the survey is not only an opportunity to express your own opinion, but also a sign that citizens are demanding bicycle-friendly infrastructure. A well-developed cycle path network is not only environmentally friendly, but also contributes to everyone's quality of life and road safety.

The ADFC carries out this test every two years, and 2024 will be the eleventh edition. The implementation is supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, which provides funds from the National Cycling Plan. The bicycle climate test is considered an important indicator of the satisfaction of cyclists in Germany.

Around 245,000 people took part in the last survey in 2022, resulting in a comprehensive ranking of the most bike-friendly cities and communities in various size classes. The results of the last two surveys for Bavaria can be viewed on the ADFC Bayern website.
