Lecture series on mental health: Hemau invites seniors
The city of Hemau has taken up the cause of a new project that focuses on the mental health of older people. As part of the “Caring City of Hemau” initiative, four exciting lectures will be offered next autumn that deal with various aspects of mental health in old age. These events are not only informative, but also free of charge and invite you to find out more about important topics in a friendly atmosphere over coffee and cake.
The lectures take place every Wednesday at 2 p.m. and are open to anyone interested, especially the older generation. There is no need to register in advance, which makes participation particularly easy. The series of events begins on September 18, 2024 with the topic “I want to grow old as a tree – grow old healthily”, presented by Georg Pilhofer, an experienced qualified social educator and geriatric therapist. The lecture will take place at the Gasthof Ferstl-Bruckmeier in Hemau.
A variety of topics relating to mental health
On September 25, 2024, the author Christiane Kerbeck will give a reading entitled “Depression and Anxiety – In My Way” in the Bürgersaal of the Zehntstadel Hemau. Kerbeck is an EX-IN recovery companion and will share her personal experiences and insights.
A week later, on October 2, 2024, the topic of dementia will be the focus. Marina Lenk, a health and care manager, will provide information about the signs of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. This lecture also takes place in the Citizens' Hall.
The series concludes on October 9, 2024 with a lecture by Simone Kindl, a nursing educator and qualified geriatric nurse. She will talk about “Depression in old age – background and offers of help” and show what support options are available for those affected.
With this series of lectures, the city of Hemau shows its commitment to the mental health of its older citizens. The topics are not only relevant, but also of great importance for well-being in old age. The events offer a valuable opportunity to obtain information and exchange information.
