Ida Dlapka will be Hemauer’s Christ Child 2025 – a radiant appearance!

On December 2, 2025, 15-year-old Ida Dlapka was selected as the Hemauer Christ Child for 2025. The young Hemauerin is currently attending the M-Zug middle school in Undorf and plans to complete her secondary school leaving certificate in July 2024. After graduating, she will begin training as an office management clerk at Holzbau Semmler. In her free time, Ida enjoys meeting friends, listening to music and spending many hours in the Hemauer forest pool. She also danced and played handball with Prinzengarde Hemau for eight years, but is currently taking a break to concentrate on her school obligations.

Ida Dlapka loves baking cookies and watching Christmas films with her friends. She is looking forward to her first appearance as a Christ child with great anticipation, which will take place on December 21st at the Hemauer Christkindlmarkt, where she will welcome the guests, recite the Christmas story and give presents to children. A total of five applications were submitted for the position, and the jury, consisting of Mayor Herbert Tischhöfer and the three parliamentary group speakers of the Hemauer city council, was very satisfied with Ida's selection.

Hemauer Christmas market

The Hemauer Christmas market will take place on Saturday, December 21st, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the town square. The square is transformed into an inviting Christmas village with over 30 market stalls offering a wide range of food. Visitors can look forward to homemade punch, mulled wine, grilled food, pancakes, tree striezel, pizza, langos, tarte flambée, goulash pot and potato soup. There are also stalls selling clothing, toys, leather goods, homemade juices and other items, with the stalls grouped in the upper part of the town square around the town fountain.

Particular attention is paid to an appealing children's program. From 1:30 p.m. there will be a Christmas craft workshop in the city library. At 3:00 p.m., a picture book cinema with lectures from the work “Stockmann” will be offered in the Bürgersaal of the Zehntstadel. There will also be horse-drawn carriage rides through the city from 3 p.m., followed by a performance by the Hemauer Christkind at 4 p.m. The Christ child is available for souvenir photos in the Christkindl-Selfie-Häusl, where he also reads the Christmas story.

Entertainment and security

The market also promises musical entertainment from the youth brass band, the Hemau town band and the Tangrintel hunting horn players. At 7:00 p.m., the fire artist MAD-HIAS will also perform an impressive fire and light show. For the safety of the event, traffic disruptions have been announced: The town square area will be closed from 6:00 a.m. and will remain inaccessible until 7:00 a.m. the following morning. The bus stop at the town square will also not be served on this day.

The large Christmas markets in Germany, such as the well-known Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt or the traditional Dresden Striezelmarkt, attract millions of visitors every year and offer a rich program that ranges from handicrafts to culinary specialties. These markets are not only popular attractions in large cities such as Berlin and Munich, but also an integral part of German Christmas culture, as Pasch-Net highlights.

With these diverse offers and the selection of such a committed Christmas child like Ida Dlapka, the Hemauer Christkindlmarkt on December 21, 2025 can become an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
