Town hall and recycling center: How to stay informed about the holidays!

On December 22, 2025, numerous citizens will be faced with the challenge of using municipal services during the upcoming holidays. The opening times of town halls and recycling centers are often adjusted during this time.

In Hagelstadt, the citizens' office will be closed from Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2025, until January 2nd, 2026. A reopening will take place on January 5, 2026. However, the last appointments for 2025 can be arranged by telephone or online on Tuesday, December 23, 2023, with the town hall closing at 12:00 p.m. For important concerns, the opening times of the town hall are available to support local election support lists. On Monday, December 29, 2025 and Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the town hall will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Friday, January 2, 2026, shortened opening hours will apply from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Recycling center and registry office

With regard to the recycling center in Hagelstadt, it will be closed on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2025, and on New Year's Eve, December 31st, 2025. However, the recycling center will reopen on December 27, 2025 and January 3, 2026.

Opening hours in Datteln

A further look towards Datteln shows that the recycling center at Emscher-Lippe-Straße 12 is open at the following times: Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursdays also from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The recycling center is open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

The acceptance of waste and recyclables includes green waste, wood, bulky waste, residual waste and scrap metal. Hazardous waste can also be disposed of via a special waste acceptance facility by the environmental truck. Only Girocards and cashless payments are accepted for payments; credit cards and notes worth 200 or 500 euros are not accepted.

In Aachen, citizens also depend on the opening times. There are two municipal recycling centers at Bahnhofsplatz and Katschhof, one in Eilendorf and one in Brand. The Eilendorf recycling center offers an AWA pollutant collection point.
