The appointment of Brigitte Herzog as Ambassador of the Upper Palatinate has caused a stir in the region. In a solemn ceremony in the Hall of Mirrors of the Upper Palatinate government, she was introduced as one of six new ambassadors. The community of Hagelstadt warmly congratulated on this special award.
District Council President Franz Löffler gave a moving speech in which he praised Brigitte Herzog for her tireless efforts. Her story is one of loss and hope. After the tragic death of her daughter Marlene in 2010, who decided to donate her organs, Brigitte Herzog became a passionate advocate for the issue of organ donation.
A life for organ donation
The loss of her daughter did not break Brigitte Herzog, but rather motivated her to help others. Marlene's decision to donate her organs saved four people's lives. This experience led Brigitte Herzog to become actively involved in raising awareness about organ donation.
Since 2014 she has been active in the Association of Liver Transplants in Germany and supports relatives of organ donors. Together with Peter Schlauderer, she has been visiting patients at the Regensburg University Hospital for many years to encourage them and educate them about the importance of organ donation. Your membership in the “Donor Families Network” and the “Organ Donation East Bavaria Initiative” shows your commitment to this important cause.
The numbers on organ donation in Germany are alarming: over 8,500 people are waiting for a life-saving organ, while only 869 organ donors were registered in 2022. Brigitte Herzog would like to encourage people to think about this issue and perhaps make a decision that can save lives.
