Gardening courses in Regensburg: discover colorful beds and the dormouse!

Next week, garden lovers will have the opportunity to take part in two exciting and free courses focused on adapting gardens to climate challenges.

Colorful beds despite the heat and drought– A topic that concerns many hobby gardeners. The summer months often bring extreme heat and dryness, making it difficult for traditional plants like phlox and delphiniums to thrive. In an informative lecture, various strategies for redesigning beds will be presented in order to maintain colorful gardens even in dry times. Participants can look forward to a variety of perennials that better cope with current weather conditions.

Details about the first gardening course

The first gardening course will take place on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the training room of the Regensburg City Garden Office, Weinweg 8. Here, those interested can not only learn how to adapt their gardens, but also get to know new plants that thrive in the heat.

On the trail of the dormouse– Another highlight is the excursion that deals with one of the most mysterious animals in our forests. The dormouse, which is mainly active at night, lives in the tree and shrub layers. Hartmut Schmid, an experienced landscape ecologist, will guide the participants through the hazel dormouse's habitat and provide exciting insights into their way of life. With a bit of luck, participants can even observe a dormouse in its natural environment.
