Complete closure of state road 2660: bridge work in Deuerling

State road 2660 in Hemau, which is an important connection between Regensburg and Deuerling, will be completely closed again from September 13th to 17th, 2024. This measure is part of the extensive repair work on the railway bridge that leads over the railway tracks. The closure will be set up on Friday and is necessary in order to be able to safely carry out work in the track area under the bridge.

The road is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Tuesday morning, September 17th. After this full closure, half-way traffic routing with traffic lights will be restored in order to complete the remaining work on the southern half of the bridge. This work has been underway since the end of April and has already included the repair of the southern half of the bridge.

Details about the construction work

During the upcoming closure, the working scaffolding will be dismantled and specific work will be carried out in the track area. The remaining work on the southern half of the bridge should be completed by the end of November 2024, depending on weather conditions. Construction work on the northern half of the bridge is planned for 2026, as a main beam needs to be replaced due to damage. This replacement requires extensive logistical preparations and will be carried out in conjunction with Deutsche Bahn's already planned renovation work on the route.

The reason for replacing the girder is progressive corrosion, which is currently not causing static problems, but could endanger the load-bearing capacity of the bridge in the long term. Therefore, it is necessary to renew this support to ensure the safety of the bridge.

The Regensburg State Building Authority asks all road users to understand the inconvenience caused by the closure. Local drivers are advised to avoid the affected area as far as possible in order to complete the work as quickly as possible.
