Project manager wanted for the sponge region – your opportunity in the Bavarian Forest!
The ILE Vorderer Bavarian Forest association is looking for a new project manager (m/f/d) for the Vorderer Bavarian Forest sponge region in order to advance regional development through an Integrated Rural Development Concept (ILEK). This was published on Brennberg's website on February 10, 2026. The special purpose association includes the communities of Altenthann, Bernhardswald, Brennberg, Michelsneukirchen, Rettenbach, Wald, Wiesent, Zell, Markt Falkenstein and the city of Wörth an der Donau.
The sought-after project manager will work part-time and will contribute to developing and implementing climate-resilient solutions for landscape water management. This includes close cooperation with regional actors such as citizens, farmers, communities and associations. The position is initially limited to two years, but can be extended for a further two years following an evaluation.
Tasks and requirements
The project manager's tasks include, among other things, identifying opportunities for action in the region and strengthening the actors through decentralized project groups. Information and communication work to activate farmers and citizens as well as establishing cooperation and coordinating a network of advisors are also part of the range of tasks.
The requirements for applicants include a degree at level 6 of the German Quality Framework (DQR) in relevant areas such as agriculture, forestry, water management or landscape planning. In addition, knowledge of water-storing agriculture and forestry as well as very good communication and team skills are required. Flexibility for weekend and evening work is also required.
