Local elections 2026 in Bernhardswald: Important information for voters!
On February 11, 2026, the community of Bernhardswald will have important information about the upcoming Local election published. The election will take place on March 8, 2026 and there are clear requirements regarding eligibility to vote.
In order to be able to take part in the local elections, voters must meet the following criteria: They must have the citizenship of an EU member state, be at least 18 years old (i.e. born on or before March 8, 2008), have been resident in Bernhardswald for at least two months (i.e. from January 8, 2026 or earlier) and must not be excluded from voting.
Registration and election notification
Registration in the electoral register will take place automatically on January 25, 2026 for all eligible voters whose main residence is in Bernhardswald. All other eligible voters must submit a written application for registration by February 15, 2026 at the latest.
Election notifications will be sent no later than February 15, 2026. These notifications provide confirmation of registration in the electoral roll and the relevant voting district. If someone does not receive notification by this date, they are advised to contact the residents' registration office immediately - this should be done by March 6, 2026 at the latest.
Voting documents and voting process
To participate in the election, voters must bring their ID card, passport or ID card with them on election day. Anyone who would like to apply for a postal vote needs a voting slip, which should be applied for by March 2, 2026 at the latest. From February 16, 2026, postal voting documents can either be requested or picked up directly.
The number of votes a voter can cast corresponds to the number of seats up for grabs. Cumulation, i.e. awarding up to three votes to one applicant, as well as variegation, distributing the votes across different lists, are permitted. Deletions from the ballot paper are also permitted.
