The anticipation for the “Literature Days in the Upper Palatinate Jura” is growing, because the Beratzhausen market has put together an exciting program in collaboration with the surrounding communities. This year the event is taking place for the sixth time and is hosted by Dr. Christine Riedl-Valder led. This initiative aims to preserve and develop the region's rich literary tradition, associated with notable figures such as Paracelsus and Franz-Xaver Staudigl.
The Literature Days offer a varied program that includes readings, concerts, exhibitions, workshops and writing competitions. Every year there is a specific theme that shapes the events. The highlight of the Literature Days is the awarding of the Literature Prize in the Bürgersaal of the Zehntstadel, which is given to a person who is closely linked to the region through their work.
The motto of the Literature Days 2024
This year the motto is “Visions – rethinking our world”. This topic is particularly relevant as people have faced numerous challenges in recent years, including the coronavirus pandemic and geopolitical conflicts such as the Russia-Ukraine war. The 2024 Literature Days will focus on authors who reflect life in the midst of these crises in their works. In their texts, they create ideas and visions for a better future and show how one can find hope despite adverse circumstances.
