New water charges: 4th amendment statute comes into force on October 1st

On September 9, 2024, the Regensburg district water supply association decided on a significant change in the contribution and fee statutes for the water fee statutes. This new regulation, known as the 4th statute, will come into force on October 1, 2024 and brings with it some important adjustments.

The changes particularly affect the fee structure for water supply. According to the new regulations, the consumption fee for withdrawn water is set at 1.68 euros per cubic meter. This means that every household or business that withdraws water from the public water supply must pay this amount per cubic meter. This regulation is intended to ensure a fair distribution of costs and make the use of water more efficient.

Details of the new fee schedule

In addition to the general consumption fee, there are special regulations for building water meters. If a building water meter or other movable water meter is used, the fee is 3.36 euros per cubic meter. This also applies to cases in which construction water is released without a construction water meter being present. In such cases, consumption is estimated, meaning charges are based on an estimate rather than an actual meter reading.

These changes are part of the association's ongoing efforts to optimize the water supply in the Regensburg district and at the same time make the financial framework for water supply transparent. The statutes were issued taking into account Articles 5, 8 and 9 of the Municipal Taxes Act (KAG), which forms the legal basis for these adjustments.

The last change to the statutes took place on September 14, 2022, and the new regulations are a response to the changing needs of the water supply and increasing costs. The association chairman Wilhelm emphasized that these measures are necessary to ensure the quality and availability of water for all citizens in the district.
