Vohenstrauß: Renovation of the roundabout starts on October 21st

From Monday, October 21, 2024, road construction work will begin at the Vohenstrauß-Ost roundabout exit, which will be carried out by the Amberg-Sulzbach State Building Authority.

The roadway at the roundabout and adjacent streets has suffered greatly recently. To ensure safety and driving comfort, the top layer of asphalt is being renewed. In some areas, the underlying layer, known as the base course, is also replaced. These measures are necessary to improve the quality of the road and repair damage.

Half-page work and diversions

In order to minimize inconvenience for residents, the work will be carried out on a partial basis. This means that traffic can continue to flow between the “Vohenstrauß-Ost” junction of the A 6 motorway and the city center, but under the control of a traffic light. However, this traffic light will be limited to a maximum vehicle width of 2.30 meters to ensure safety.

A diversion for inner-city traffic will be set up for the other connecting branches that have to be closed to ensure smooth construction progress. This diversion leads in a west-east direction via Wernberger Straße, Siedlerstraße and Hüttbrunnenweg. In order to optimize traffic flow, the right-of-way regulations on Hüttbrunnenweg will be adjusted. Drivers on the A6 motorway and at the Vohenstrauß-West and Lohma roundabouts are already being informed about the upcoming closures. Truck traffic in particular is being rerouted via the motorway to avoid traffic jams.
