The city of Vohenstrauss presented a new flyer entitled “Safe Route to School” just in time for the start of the new 2024/2025 school year. This flyer is intended to help parents and children find the safest route to school.

On the first day of school, the flyer was ceremoniously handed over to the new first graders at Vohenstrauß elementary school. Rector Katja Meidenbauer accepted the documents, which were handed over by Wolfgang Piehler, the traffic officer at the Vohenstrauss police station. The idea for this flyer came about after a suggestion from Uli Münchmeier, the second mayor, during a citizens' meeting last year.

Collaboration for security

In June, a working group was formed that worked intensively on creating the flyer. The team was made up of various experts, including Thomas Eiber, Michael Karl and Maximilian Rewitzer from the city administration as well as Wolfgang Piehler from the police and Andreas Ogarek from CP2 Altenstadt/WN. This group conducted site visits to determine the safest routes to school from residential areas.

The city of Vohenstrauß would like to express its thanks to the supporters, including the Citizens and Police Association and the United Sparkassen Neustadt/Eschenbach/Vohenstrauss, who helped with the financing and design of the flyer. This collaboration shows how important it is to ensure the safety of children on their way to school.

With the new flyer, the organizational team led by Uli Münchmeier wants to ensure that all children have a safe and smooth journey to school. The city wishes all students a successful start to the new school year and an accident-free journey to school.
