Microcensus 2024: Bavaria's citizens shape political decisions

The microcensus, an important survey that is carried out annually, is currently underway in Bavaria. This small census aims to collect comprehensive information about the economic and social situation of the population. In contrast to the large census, which takes place every ten years, the micro census focuses on specific data that is important for political decisions. So far, around 70,000 citizens in Bavaria have already taken part in the survey, which is a good start.

Respondents used various options to provide their information. Over half of the participants chose a telephone interview, which shows that many people prefer direct contact. Online reporting is also very popular as it offers a convenient and time-saving option. Participation in this survey is not only important but also required by law as it helps ensure that policy decisions are based on sound data.

Number of participants and deadlines

There are currently around 50,000 people on the list who should be contacted by the end of the year. This number is part of the total of 120,000 people in Bavaria who are required to provide information for the microcensus. The State Statistics Office will reach out to these individuals in the coming weeks to ensure the survey is complete and accurate. Participation is crucial in order to get a comprehensive picture of living conditions in Bavaria.

The data collected is important not only for politics, but also for society as a whole. They help to identify trends and plan future developments better. Anyone who has not yet taken part should take the opportunity to make their contribution. Further information about participation and the background to the microcensus can be found on the website of the Bavarian State Office for Statistics.
