The Fifty-Fifty-Taxi is a popular service for young people in Neustadt/WN, which has enabled a safe and cost-effective return from nighttime events since its introduction in 2003. The initiative was launched after the previous “SEPL Bus” project was discontinued. The Neustadt/WN district youth association then thought about how they could offer young people a safe ride home, and that's how the idea of the Fifty-Fifty Taxi came about.
This special taxi service allows young people aged 14 to 21 to get a ride home at a reduced price of just half the regular fare. This is particularly practical after a long evening at the disco, cinema or at a party. The other half of the costs are covered by sponsors, which shows how important community support is for this project.
How does the offer work?
The taxi vouchers are given to young passengers at half the nominal price. These vouchers can either be picked up directly at the district youth association office or conveniently requested by telephone or email. The use of the vouchers is permitted on certain days, namely Fridays, Saturdays, holidays and before public holidays, which offers flexibility to young people.
Since May 2018, the taxi tickets have been available in a new, attractive design, which further increases the attractiveness of the offer. The tickets are a great way to ensure that young people get home safely, even after nighttime activities, without having to worry about high costs.
