Orchard pact: Together for a million new fruit trees in Etzenricht!
The orchards in Bavaria have changed significantly in recent years. These colorful habitats, which provide a home for many animal and plant species, are increasingly threatened. The Bavarian state government has now launched a plan to counteract the decline in orchard stocks. The goal is to plant one million new orchard fruit trees by 2035. This happens as part of the Bavarian Orchard Pact, in which the municipality of Etzenricht is also involved.
The “Scattered fruit for everyone!” initiative should not only support nature, but also actively involve citizens. Anyone who is interested can become part of this project. The state government offers financial support for the purchase of tall fruit trees. Up to 45 euros can be funded per tree, which significantly reduces the costs of planting. You only have to cover the costs for materials such as tethering posts and protective measures yourself.
What can be planted?
The selection of fruit trees is diverse. Eligible species include:
- Kernobst wie Äpfel und Birnen
- Steinobst wie Pflaumen und Kirschen
- Walnüsse
- Quitten
- Wildobstsorten wie Vogelkirsche und Eberesche
However, there are also some exceptions. Certain varieties that are considered problematic, such as some apple and pear varieties, are excluded from funding. In addition, no trees may be supported for commercial planting or those that have to be planted due to legal requirements.
