Exciting children's Olympics in Weiding: fun and team spirit in the tent camp
In Weiding, SV Weiding organized an exciting event for the children that made the summer holidays an unforgettable experience. On Bridge Day, over 40 young participants gathered on the club grounds to take part in an exciting children's Olympics. The children were divided into teams of four and had to fight their way through 16 different stations that required skill, speed and teamwork.
The stations were varied and provided a lot of fun. The children had to test their balance while stacking egg cartons and be nimble while running down the gutter. Skill was also required in the ski race and the beer crate run. For the little athletes, accuracy in mini basketball and rubber boot throws was crucial. Strength and team spirit were required in tug-of-war and wheelbarrow racing, while precision was required in the balancing game. A highlight was the water game, in which the children had to shoot a plastic cup into the target with water pistols. The slalom run, where water had to be poured into mini cups, also posed a challenge.
Diverse activities and rewards
The breaks were used to refresh the little athletes with cool drinks and ice cream. Face painting was particularly popular and gave the children additional joy. A cake buffet and coffee for the adults rounded off the offer. After a strenuous day, all participants received a certificate and a medal in recognition of their achievements.
But the Olympics were just the beginning. In the evening, the children gathered around the campfire to fortify themselves with delicious grilled food and to bake their own bread. The newly installed soccer goals and volleyball net encouraged children to play, and these facilities continue to be available to the community.
After an exciting day and a sociable evening, the children set up camp while the adults kept watch around the campfire. The next morning began with a hearty breakfast in the SV Weiding clubhouse, which marked the end of the holiday camp.
The board of SV Weiding would like to thank all the volunteers who contributed to the success of the Children's Olympics. Without their support this event would not have been possible. A lot of time was invested weeks in advance to bring the clubhouse into shape. Those responsible are planning to use the clubhouse for various activities in the future, including a children's running club and a newly founded cycling department. Based on the positive feedback from children and parents, the Children's Olympics will certainly not be the last event of its kind.
