Seniors' trip to the Glass Barn: Experience legends made of glass
A very special outing for seniors took place in the community of Weiding on Tuesday afternoon. Mayor Daniel Paul and Pastor Franz Merl invited older citizens to visit the Glass Barn in the old district of Viechtach. This event gave participants the opportunity not only to admire the impressive architecture of the building, but also to immerse themselves in the world of legends and popular beliefs. Senior leader Jutta Weingärtner was pleased with the lively participation and the new faces that had joined the group.
When they arrived, the seniors were warmly welcomed by the family who owned the Glass Barn. The junior manager of the house gave the guests an exciting overview of the history of the unique building. This was followed by a barrier-free tour of the various rooms, which were decorated with artistic glass pictures. The hand-painted glass walls that told stories about the two famous Bavarian Forest legends “Mühlhiasl” and “Robber Heigl” were particularly impressive.
An unforgettable experience
The participants agreed: The Glass Barn, which was awarded the Glass Street Prize in 2006, is a place that you should definitely visit. After the visit, we continued to Café Waffle in Miltach in bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures. There the seniors were able to reflect on the day's impressions over a snack or coffee and cake. A visit to the adjacent shop, where there were lots of sweet treats to buy, rounded off the trip.
Jutta Weingärtner warmly thanked the Chambtal municipality and the employees for the excellent organization of the excursion. The event was not only an opportunity to make new acquaintances, but also a wonderful way to discover and enjoy the region's cultural treasures.
