Marienkirche Weiding shines in new splendor after a major cleaning campaign

An important anniversary is being celebrated in Weiding: St. Mary's Church, which has been the spiritual center of the community for 65 years, will be honored with a festive mass next Saturday. The church, which was once consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Josef Hiltl, is not only a place of faith, but also a symbol of the Weidinger community spirit. The villagers actively participated in the construction, which illustrates the close connection to the church.

The community of Weiding has taken responsibility for the care and maintenance of the church, which is not an everyday occurrence in the diocese of Regensburg. This special relationship is also reflected in the recent renovation work, which has made the church shine in new splendor. The old image of the Virgin Mary from the village chapel was recently restored and supplemented with new, hand-embroidered altar cloths that shine in all liturgical colors.

Joint cleaning operation

On Tuesday, a large cleaning operation took place in St. Mary's Church, with numerous volunteers helping out. Under the supervision of the two sextons Mariele Schönberger and Helga Meier as well as the community building yard, the church was thoroughly cleaned. From ceiling to floor, everything has been polished to a high shine to provide a welcoming ambience to the devotees.

The community provided a small snack to thank the helpers for their efforts. This community campaign shows how important their church is to the people of Weidingen. The church consecration celebration will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. with a festive mass led by Pastor Franz Merl. Afterwards everyone is invited to the secular celebration in the Schützenheim, where the Dalking parish council ensures a successful celebration.

St. Mary's Church is not only a place of prayer, but also a living part of the community that connects the people of Weidingen across generations. Preparations for the anniversary are in full swing and the anticipation for the celebrations is palpable.
