Generations in dialogue: Weiding kindergarten visits seniors

A remarkable initiative has developed in the community of Weiding that promotes togetherness between young and old. Last Friday, a new partnership was launched between the Weiding kindergarten and the outpatient senior living community on Europaallee. This collaboration aims to give preschool children the opportunity to regularly spend time with seniors. The children will visit the shared apartment once a month to play together and learn from each other.

The first visit was a complete success. The children, full of anticipation, made their way to the shared apartment and were greeted with a warm welcome. They had prepared a rehearsed song that brought smiles to the faces of the elderly. The children brought a variety of games while the seniors also provided their own games. This interactive time gave both generations the opportunity to get to know each other better and build a connection.

Shared activities and learning opportunities

The aim of the initiative is to introduce children to the valuable life experience and social skills of the older generation. Whether cooking together, reading aloud or exploring nature - the children learn how important it is to connect different generations with one another. They discover that aging also brings with it many positive aspects. The children's enthusiasm about their new acquaintances is palpable and they are already looking forward to the next visits.

Exciting activities are already planned for the coming months. This includes autumn crafts, decorating cookies and a Christmas party together. This initiative not only brings joy but also promotes understanding and respect between age groups. It is a valuable experience that is of great importance for both the children and the seniors.
