Emilie Lex: A new star in the Dalking faith community
A significant ceremony took place in Dalking last Sunday, welcoming little Emilie Lex into the Catholic community. Emilie, the second child of Andrea and Andreas Lex from Arnschwang, was baptized in the parish church of St. Peter and Paul. Deacon Alfred Dobler welcomed the family and the baptismal congregation at the entrance to the church and initiated the festive celebration.
The ceremony began with a scripture reading, followed by an address and a litany offering intercessions for Emilie and her family. Deacon Dobler expressed his joy that the parents had decided to raise their daughter in the faith and thus let her become part of the large Catholic religious community. He encouraged those present, especially the parents and godfather Moritz Lex, to integrate the meaning of baptism into their everyday lives.
Baptism and its meaning
The ceremonial baptism took place in front of the altar, where Emilie, it seems, loudly expressed her own opinion. This caused some laughs and a warm atmosphere. After being baptized with holy water, Emilie was anointed with chrism, a special oil used for baptisms in the Catholic Church. Another important moment was the handover of the baptismal candle, which symbolizes the light of faith. The father lit the candle from the Paschal candle, which is a deep symbolic act.
The celebration was not only a significant religious event but also a joyful occasion for the family and friends who came together to celebrate this special moment. The baptismal community showed solidarity and support, which underlined the community bond in the church.
The baptism of Emilie Lex is a further step in the tradition of the Catholic Church, which introduces families and children to the faith and accompanies them on their spiritual path. Such ceremonies are not only important for the baptized children, but also strengthen the community and family bonds within the church.
