An exciting event for the whole family is just around the corner! On September 4, 2024, the action day “Out and about with the grandparents in the museums” will be celebrated in the Cham district. This initiative, which is part of the local Alliance for Families, is organized by the district's cultural department and promises an exciting day for grandparents and their grandchildren.
The Upper Palatinate Craft Museum in Rötz-Hillstett is proud to be taking part in this special day with a varied program. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can open the doors of the museum and immerse themselves in the fascinating world of crafts. A special attraction is the special exhibition “The Bather – Craftsman of the Body”, which offers exciting insights into old craft techniques.
A variety of activities for young and old
Visitors can look forward to numerous craft demonstrations. A wood turner will be on hand to demonstrate his craftsmanship, while children will have the opportunity to get creative with natural materials. The talented calligrapher Johann Maierhofer from Regensburg will also be present. He will not only show his techniques, but also provide materials that invite you to try them out. At 4 p.m. he will read “The Tale of the Demon Hunter,” a fairy tale that will delight both children and adults.
There is also something delicious for guests young and old to enjoy: fresh pastries are offered to make the day even more pleasant. In addition, participants can take part in an exciting museum rally to the special exhibition or test their skills in a tile-laying game at the museum.
The Upper Palatinate Craft Museum is open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. until September 29th. For groups or special requests, individual visits are also possible by appointment.
