New waste separation in Cham: now collect large films and mixed plastics separately!

From October 1, 2024, the citizens of Falkenstein can hand in their large films and mixed plastics separately at the recycling center. This new regulation aims to increase the recycling rate and raise awareness about the responsible use of plastics.

The city administration is calling on all citizens to use the special containers at the recycling center. Detailed information on the acceptance conditions is available on the Kreiswerke Cham website at www.kreiswerke-cham.de.

What are large films and mixed plastics?

Large films include packaging films that are larger than a DIN A4 sheet. These include shrink and stretch films, which are used for furniture, construction site materials and electrical appliances, as well as film bags that contain, for example, fertilizer or animal feed. It is important to note that non-retail packaging, such as tablecloths or gift wrap, will not be accepted.

The mixed plastics category includes small films and Raschel bags, which are often used for onions or potatoes. This separation of materials is a step towards more environmentally friendly waste management, which is promoted by the Cham District Works.

In addition, the collection of used tires and bottle corks will stop on December 31, 2024. After this date, used tires can no longer be returned to recycling centers in the Cham district. To ensure that these are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner, they can still be returned to tire dealers, where old tires can be returned when purchasing new tires.

From January 2024, plastic bottle corks will be classified as mixed plastics and must then be disposed of accordingly. Natural cork waste, such as cork coasters or floor coverings, still belongs in the residual waste.
