Yellow ribbons show: Fruit harvesting is now allowed in Rettenbach!

The question that often concerns many people in autumn is: “Can I pick the fruit from the tree or not?” This uncertainty leads to many fruits falling to the ground unused. To counteract this, the ILE Vorderer Bayerischer Wald launched the “Yellow Ribbon” initiative. This action aims to mark fruit trees with yellow ribbons, signaling that the fruit can be harvested free of charge and without prior authorization.

The yellow bands are more than just a clue; they actively encourage the use of fruit that would otherwise rot. There is a wide variety of fruit in the region and the opportunity to harvest them is a real treat for everyone. The campaign has already borne fruit in the community of Rettenbach, where trees have been marked in various places, such as playgrounds and hiking trails. Other communities in the district have also joined this valuable initiative.

Respectful treatment of nature

The district association for horticulture and regional culture supports the campaign and emphasizes the importance of less fruit spoiling. Citizens are asked to only harvest from the marked trees and to be respectful of nature. This means that you should only pick as much as you need. In addition, harvesting is done at your own risk, which is why caution is required.

A picture of Mayor Alois Hamperl and deputy district chairman Konrad Weinzierl shows them attaching the yellow ribbon to an apple tree. This symbolic act represents community and shared effort to promote the fruit harvest while protecting the environment.
